Thailand signed this UNCAC 2003 and is now during the process to become a State Party to this Convention as per the resolution made by the National Legislative Assembly (NLA) on 19 December 2007 in accordance with a resolution of the Cabinet to approve 3 relevant draft Acts, enabling the implementation of the obligations under this Convention, before becoming one of the State Parties to this Convention.
However, the public authorities of Thailand shall need to, in unity, cooperate with each other and should make "the Office of the National Counter Corruption Commission (Office of NCCC)" a central authority according to this Convention as well as focusing more on the prevention of corruption than in the past. Laws and measures to prevent the interference from the government or the politicians and to prevent the conflicts of interest of public officials attached to the law enforcement authorities especially the public prosecutors are needed to be established. The good governance in the private sector needs to be promoted as well as promoting the prevention of and the fight against corruption by the civil society sector and non-governmental organizations and supporting freedom of the press. These are important factors to success for dealing with the problems of corruption in Thailand.
