ปรัชญาอาชญาวิทยามีเนื้อหาเกี่ยวข้องกับอาชญากรรม สาเหตุของอาชญากรรม การป้องกันอาชญากรรมและการปฏิบัติต่อผู้กระทำความผิด รวมทั้งการลงโทษด้วย ดังนั้น จึงมีความสำคัญต่อประมวลกฎหมายอาญาอย่างแยกกันไม่ออก เนื่องจากทั้งกฎหมายอาญา และอาชญาวิทยาต่างก็มีเนื้อหาเกี่ยวข้องและสัมพันธ์กันอย่างใกล้ชิด เพราะกฎหมายอาญา มีวัตถุประสงค์หลักเพื่อใช้ในการป้องกันและปราบปรามอาชญากรรมให้เกิดความสงบเรียบร้อยขึ้นในบ้านเมือง ประมวลกฎหมายอาญาไทยนับได้ว่ามีเนื้อหามาจากรากฐานของหลักปรัชญา อาชญาวิทยาทั้งสิ้น ดังนั้น จึงเป็นกฎหมายที่เป็นสากลคล้ายกับประเทศต่าง ๆ ทั่วโลก ซึ่งการพัฒนากฎหมายอาญาให้ทันสมัยจึงจำเป็นต้องอาศัยข้อมูลและการวิจัยทางอาชญาวิทยา มาประกอบการพิจารณาด้วยเสมอ นอกจากนี้การบังคับใช้กฎหมายอาญาหน่วยงานต่าง ๆ และเจ้าหน้าที่ที่เกี่ยวข้องควรจะต้องมีองค์ความรู้และแนวคิดในทฤษฎีทางอาชญาวิทยา มาเป็นแนวทางเพื่อให้เกิดประสิทธิภาพและประสิทธิผลได้รับประโยชน์สูงสุดด้วย

Thai Criminal code was founded on the Criminology Philosophy it is, therefore, similar to laws of other nations around the world. To modernize criminal Law, information and research on criminology are required to be taken into consideration Furthermore, in implementing criminal law, government agencies ought to have knowledge and understand the concept of criminology theory in order to maximize efficiency and effectiveness.
